Objective:
This project focused on creating a cohesive set of five illustrations for a “visual journal” connected to the upcoming novel The Shard of Reflections. Three illustrations portray the main character, Calen, his mother, and his father. The remaining two show a romantic couple inspired by real-life subjects.
The goal was to maintain a consistent mood and visual tone across fantasy and real-world themes.
Each character was illustrated with emotions and symbolism that reflect their roles:
Calen’s intensity, his mother’s warmth, his father’s stoicism, and the couple’s soft, romantic atmosphere.
A unified color palette and balanced rendering style helped tie every piece together while still keeping each illustration distinct.

The Results
The final collection achieved a polished, cohesive aesthetic across five different subjects.
Even with mixed themes and personalities, the pieces feel connected through color, lighting, and style — creating a small but expressive “journal” of stories.
