Background & Concept
This illustration was born out of a deep frustration with the global impact of conflicts driven by powerful nations. The title, “When Is It Enough?”, reflects a plea for an end to the cycle of violence and devastation that smaller countries often suffer as collateral damage. As an artist, I aimed to highlight the human cost of geopolitical power struggles—where leaders engage in a metaphorical fight for dominance, while the ground beneath them is littered with the lives lost and nations destroyed.

The Brief
The illustration combines both literal and symbolic elements to drive the message home. In the foreground, two powerful figures engage in a physical struggle, representing the major world powers clashing head-to-head. Their setting—a pile of human skulls adorned with flags of affected nations—emphasizes the casualties of such conflicts, which extend far beyond the combatants themselves. Missiles fill the sky, intensifying the sense of impending doom and the cycle of violence.
To add a dramatic impact, I used bold colors, intense flames, and chaotic debris to create an atmosphere of chaos and urgency. The dark tones contrast with the bright, fiery background, drawing attention to the brutality of the scene. The composition forces the viewer to confront the devastation that often goes unseen amid political agendas.
Our Approach
This piece was a personal expression of sorrow, anger, and solidarity with those countries caught in the crossfire of geopolitical conflicts. The skulls in the illustration represent not just the death toll, but the countless stories that ended prematurely. It’s a visual commentary meant to question the pursuit of power at the expense of innocent lives.
Outcome
Incorporating this illustration into my portfolio allows me to showcase my ability to create concept-driven art that delivers a strong message. It highlights my dedication to using art as a voice for those affected by global issues, and my capability to handle sensitive topics with the intention of raising awareness.
